The SmartLT Vertical Wall Light Housing eliminates the need for invasive structural cutting and complex blocking. Follow these streamlined steps for a professional, waterproof finish on any vertical surface.
Installation:
1. Preparation & Wiring
Determine your fixture location and run a standard electrical wire from the switch. Simply drill a small pilot hole through the wall and pull a 14-inch lead through to the exterior.
2. Weatherproofing the Envelope
Secure a 2′ x 2′ section of Weather-Resistive Barrier (WRB) to the substrate. Pass the wire through the WRB and apply waterproof tape around the penetration point to maintain the integrity of the building envelope.
3. Mounting the Housing
Position the SmartLT housing over the wire, ensuring the lead protrudes through the center cavity. Secure the housing to the wall using the pre-drilled holes in the mounting flange.
4. Sealing & Siding
Tape the WRB directly to the SmartLT flange. Once the siding is installed flush to the housing perimeter, apply a bead of caulk to the exterior edge to ensure a water-repellent seal.
5. Final Connection
To finish, simply connect the wire to the LED power supply and tuck it into the housing cavity. Plug in your pancake light and snap it into place for a clean, recessed look. For a retrofit finish you can use the included trim ring.
